The real deal, The way chopper shops were back in the days..A small shop but you get personal servi
I'm 55 years old and started riding when I was 10. Got my first Harley, a 64 Panhead in 1974 which I still have. I Chopped it back in the 70's a visited many small local shops that catered to Harleys. I alway got service advice, brand name parts and service from these shops. Doc's in Stockton, Arlens in Hayward to name a few. These were owner operated and run. I loved the way these shops were set up, with parts on the walls, bikes on the showroom floor, even the way they smell. The hint of oil fumes, leather, old books, the way an engine and tranny smell just sitting there etc...
When you needed a part you told them what you wanted and they pulled it off the wall or looked in the book and ordered it for you. I got away from riding while I rasied my family and worked on my career. Then I got the bug to pull out the old Panhead and get it back on the road. It leaked of course and looked around for a shop to get my parts and found this shop. When I walked in it was like a time machine, bam the old shop smell, the parts on the walls, the bike on the floor, the leather gloves and things, the parts counter that begs you to stop, lean on as you listen to the conversations of those before you. Only thing they didn't have was a cold brew while I waited my turn to talk to Tim. Each customer gets his attention until the part has been bought or ordered, then it was next!! Tim has many old parts for Pans and shovels that Harley don't carry. If he don't have it, he'll order it, and call you when it arrives. You can pay up front or when you pick it up. He can beat any price you can get online and no shipping charges. He's in tight with the suppliers and gets parts Fast, fast, fast.
He's a Harley drag racer and knows his stuff. When my Pan needs a rebuild I know I'll take it to him. I know it will be done right and bullet proof.
It's shops like these that need to be kept open by taking our business there. Believe me it's better than shopping online. Here's one of my examples:
I could order a Mustang seat from Mustang online for $410.00 plus tax and shipping $21.00. I took the part number down to Tim and he Charged me $390.00 plus tax and NO SHIPPING.He ordered it through Drag Specialities. Plus he got it in two days, where it would have taken me over a week online.
I hope this shop stay open for many years to come.
