Its one of those 'local' spots. An absolute hole in the wall from the street, but when you get inside, it opens up to a large dining room with high ceilings and columns. The staff is always quiet, nearby if you need them, ready and willing to help or answer questions. The food- in portion, scent, taste, after taste, presentation- was absolutely amazing. The saag chicken is creamy and delicious and the nan is baked to order and delivered steaming to your table. Everything balanced with everything else to the point of almost being too delicious. ;) Definitely recommend!

I've been a fan of New Delhi for a long time. I used to live in the neighborhood and they were my local bar for a drink on the way home from work. We recently had them cater an office event and the food and service were just as outstanding as if we were in the dining room. They brought everything we needed from forks to sterno cans, set us up and made sure everyone was happy before taking off. Needless to say, everyone was. The menu had something for everybody and they labeled the gluten-free and vegetarian dishes. Great job and we'll definitely be using them again.

If you've ever been in a crowd of people who all want to eat but need to find a place that is vegetarian, meat-friendly, gluten-free, vegan and has food worth eating, then you know my pain. New Delhi is probably the only place outside of Berkeley that can handle the challenge. The waiter we had knew the menu cold and was able to answer all our questions about what was in what and the spice levels. The dishes are served family style, so everyone could eat as much - or as little - as they wanted and we all left happy. Yay New Delhi! Please never close, I'm not up for finding another place that can feed everyone.

We have enjoyed Indian food for many years. Our meal last night was one of our best ever. One of my favorite Indian dishes is butter chicken - which is not on the menu here. But the waiter recommend the tikka masala - basically butter chicken with cream instead and it was outstanding! Don't be mislead by the reviews that complain about mandatory tips. If this was ever the policy, it seems to have been discontinued. Indeed, the service that we received was so helpful and professional that 18% would have been a bargain. Highly recommended.

I've noticed a bunch or reviews talking about how great this place was for a big group - and I have no doubt they were. But I came here all by lonesome and had a perfectly fine evening. I was given the option of eating at the bar or taking a table. I chose the table option since I had paperwork I wanted to get done over dinner. The staff was helpful and unobtrusive. They answered my questions, took my order and left me alone, yet kept my water glass filled. The food was excellent and I left feeling like I had been taken care of, yet not bothered or was bothersome. Next time I'm in the city for business, I'll be back for more sag paneer and nan bread.

My extended family needed a place to have dinner where everyone from the vegetarians to the meat-eaters to the gluten-free'ers could be be happy. And ideally we could all be at one table. New Delhi came through for us in a big way. They sat 18 of us around one long table on an elevated section of their dining room. Everything was served family style and the servers made a point of explaining what was in each dish, how spicy it was and whether or not it would kill anyone. (Not really, but you get the point.) We had a great meal and everyone raved about the food. I plan to go back and try some of the stuff that I missed this time.

I would go to New Delhi again...definitely New Delhi was, on a scale of 10, a 9! The naan was very warm and fresh. The Tikki Masala Chicken was very tender and flavorful-not too spicy either. The Lamb Vindaloo was very good- nice and spicy. The Tandoor Chicken was amazing - it actually came out sizzling! The Basmati Rice was good. The decor was clean and modern- oh and the restrooms were very clean. The staff was hospitable and cleared dirty dishes quickly. It was a very enjoyable meal and we will be back for a repeat very soon.

We have been to New Delhi twice now and have had no problems with either the service or the food. The food was really good, even the naan bread they serve the splendid! They serve good portions of food, very traditional Indian taste - and the curry isn't greasy, the rice was also very good - normally I am not a leftover person, but even I enjoyed the leftovers. We personally thanked the manager for the great service. Definitely worth another visit.

Ok, I am Japanese American, but I like Indian Food. Been to places in Artesia, Cerritos, and others in the southland. New Delhi is consistent and tasty. The garlic nan is the bomb, we always order extra for our family cuz our kids will wipe it out with the eggplant and/or spinach dish. Owner is a great guy with passion for the customer. This place has been in business for over 20 years and I've been coming here for 12, the food has been consistently great the whole time. I'd recommend it.

Comparable to Indian restaurants in India. I'm a firm believer that even a bad Indian restaurant is good but this place is no disappointment. The service is very usually very good and the food is wonderful and very flavorful. Highly recommended within the Indian community. I have a Sikh friend who has New Delhi cater all of his large gatherings. Wonderful veggie menu. The pakoras, saag paneer, and mattar paneer are my favorites. They don't do a poori bread unfortunately, which is one of my favorite treats. The mango lassi is one of the best I've had.

Restaurants like New Delhi is the reason why people love Indian food. This place has everything down pat: great ambiance, great service, reasonable price, amazing food. The food they serve here really makes you feel like you're in India. From the aroma wafting through the kitchen down to the food being served to you, the spices just keep teasing your nose and taste buds, i made us really hungry and I have to say that once we tasted it, we weren't in the least bit disappointed. The staff is also very friendly. We were greeted and seated as soon as we got here. They also made great suggestions on what to order.

I received a gift certificate to New Delhi and was a little hesitant as this was my first time to eat real Indian food. So I took a friend who loves Indian cuisine and we checked out the restaurant's happy hour. After my experience at this Houston hot spot, I fell in love with the flavors. We started happy hour off with a local pale ale beer and the house pomegranate cocktail. Both were extremely satisfying. Our waiter and bartender was impressively familiar with the menu and made great suggestions for us. We ordered the chili pakoras and the samoas with mint and tamarind chutney. It didn’t disappoint. I’ll definitely be back to check out more of the menu in the future. Be prepared to hoof it or park in a garage near this restaurant. If you're not down to garage it find street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods.

What a great place! What can I say about New Delhi Restaurant that is good? Well, there isn't enough room on this page to do all that. Great Food, Great Service, bottom line excellent value. The food was absolutely wonderful. My wife took me there for my birthday. SF's best kept secret. We will be going back very soon.

Simply good Indian cuisine with a clean modern flare. The menu offerings are endless and caters to diners looking for authenticity and those who are sampling Indian fare for the first time. Warm and inviting, New Delhi Restaurant is a nice little find in the city.

It's not often I eat at an Indian restaurant - especially one as good as New Delhi - and want to review the chai. This is not to say the food isn't wonderful, because it is. And the servers go out of their way to make you feel welcome and cared for. But the chai is out of this world. If you ever had the milky bland stuff they serve at Starbx, hie yourself to New Delhi and get a cup of the good stuff. Milky, not sweet and fully caffeinated. The perfect way to end a great meal.

Though New Delhi is not the easiet restaurant to find, you will be happy that you have found it after your dining experience. Greeted by friendly servers, the food is prepared very quick compared to other Indian restaurants. The enviorment is also quite lovely. Tall columns, white table cloths, gold plates - very upscale. The food is excellent! MY personal favorite was the Spicy Tamarind Chicken.....seasoned perfectly with a nice hint of coconut, it will fill you up quite well. All in all, New Delhi Restaurant is one of the best if not the best Indian restaurant I have dined at in a long time.
